SEPEN Health Workforce Planning and Policy Repository

By Bert Van Caelenberg, the European Federation of Employees in Public Services (EUROFEDOP)

Eurofedop has actively participated in the action of SEPEN (“Support for the health workforce planning and forecasting expert network”). This through our session on 16-17.05.2019 in Podgorica, through our participation in the seminar on 13-14.02.2020 in the KUL (Catholic University of Leuven) and through our (online) seminar of the Trade Council Health Services on 11.02.2021. With all these activities, we have been given the pleasure of cooperating with one of the leading figures of SEPEN, Dr Eszter Kovacs from Semmelweis University of Budapest (Hungary).

Now SEPEN has announced the publication of its Final Study Report on the “Mapping of national health workforce planning and policies in the EU-28”.

The study report comprises 28 country fiches and the online appendices.

This report provides you as national trade unions with a workable tool in the current situation with regard to Covid-19.

It allows to make comparisons with other countries.

It occurs to me that, with negotiations on personnel shortages, wages and allowances, this scientific but very readable info can help you with the face-to-face discussions you will be having with your national authorities responsible for the health workforce.
