Last week, 21st February 2019, HFE attended the Annual Congress of the European Specialist Nurses Organisations (ESNO). This year theme was “The Specialist Nurse in European Healthcare towards 2030″, looking at the future of specialist nurses and their vital role in improving quality of care and effectively meet the rising demand of healthcare. The objective of the meeting was to identify the role of the specialist nurses in healthcare 2030 and to shape a common position to major health developments in Europe. The Congress speakers represented nursing workforce in Europe, the voice of dialysis nurses, community nurses as well as oncology. 

The participants discussed the common challenges in Europe in nursing sector, from training framework, regulation and recognition as well as in leadership. One of the major takeaways of the discussion was nurses role in the implementation of digital solutions for care and in the shift towards integrated care.
