Mairead McGuinness is a Fine Gael MEP for Ireland East who serves on the European Parliament’s Agriculture and Rural Development Committee as well as on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health, and Food Safety (ENVI). She is very involved in the theme of equitable healthcare and focuses much of her work on better food labeling and educational programmes in health. At the Community level, she is places great importance on providing equal opportunities to people with disabilities, to carers and to older persons. As a member of the Inter-Party Groups on Disability and Children’s Rights, she has also worked to raise the plight of children with disabilities in orphanages in Romania and Bulgaria.
