Health First Europe is happy to welcome Ms Sirpa Pietikäinen as a new MEP Supporter. Ms. Pietikäinen serves as Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and as a Substitute Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.
Prior to joining the European Parliament in 2008, she was a former Minister of Environment (1991-1995). Her career at the Finnish parliament is extensive, ranging from the year 1983 to 2003. Economic, environmental as well as social and welfare issues have been the focus areas of her work throughout her career.
Ms. Pietikäinen is genuinely interested in healthcare issues and she has been actively involved in several actions to strengthen women’s health and human rights of people with memory diseases. She supports the Call for Action by the MEP Heart Group to achieve heart health in Europe.
