Break the silence!

By Isabella Haaf, The European Federation of Crohn’s & Ulcerative Colitis Associations

This month on 19 May EFCCA will celebrate World IBD Day. IBD, which includes Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis affects over 10 million people worldwide and over 3.4 million in Europe alone. It´s an invisible disease that has a huge impact on a person´s quality of life.

Under the theme “Break the silence – IBD and Well-being” EFCCA wants to shed a light on the various aspects of the disease. In particular we want to start a dialogue and discussions on how IBD affects people not only physically but also psychologically.

Through a social media campaign using the hashtag #breakthesilence and #worldibdday2021 we invite the IBD patient community to talk about things they feel are not usually talked about as concerns their disease management.
