The fourth and final edition of My City-Lab Talk Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and healthcare will take place on 18 November via a webinar in the framework of the 2020 Annual Congress of the European Health Management Association (EHMA). The event will focus on the role of AI in transforming cardiovascular disease and management.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Europe. CVD causes over 1.8 million deaths each year or 37% of all deaths in the EU. Each year, there are over 6.1 million new cases of CVD and almost 49 million Europeans live with CVD. The number of those affected has grown steadily over the past 30 years, making CVD one of the heaviest burdens on EU healthcare systems.

The purpose of the informal debate will be to offer a dynamic discussion among key stakeholders and policymakers on the ways in which AI can support the screening and prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). This will be done through a discussion on the benefits and risks of such technologies as well as the barriers to their deployment. Additionally, we will also look at some of the already existing strategies for CVD screening by means of AI as well as the ways in which EU countries could boost patient safety through the uptake of AI-assisted solutions in CVD care.

The debate will feature insights from:

  • MEP Maria Carvalho – Co-Chair of the MEP Heart Group at the European Parliament
  • The Heart Failure Policy Network
  • European Society of Cardiology
  • European Heart Network
  • Healthcare professionals

We hope to see you there!
